October - Why So Fast?

Today is one of those days that makes you go - yep it is autumn.

The temperature this morning?  A balmy forty degrees.  Check back with me in February and word balmy will probably mean just that.  I wanted to stay in bed and read - alas soccer beckoned me.  Leggings, a sweater, a coat, a Dunkin run.

Game one - won!

Game two - not sure we had to leave to rush over to the softball field at half time.  That game was a sloppy, cold mess.

Off to Trader Joe's for groceries.  If you ever need ideas for dinner and the idea of Pinterest is stale please go to Trader Joe's.  You will get your inspiration.  Today it came by way of sweet potato gnocchi, vegan kale and pesto sauce, and chicken sausage (too hilarious how we lumped something "vegan" with chicken sausage.  I love this life.)  I personally prefer TJ's in the fall and winter - such great seasonal fare.

Since the cool weather is here that warranted a trip to the consignment store to grab the youngest some pants and long sleeves.  Note:  When you look at your kid and say yeah he's the same size as last year you're probably lying to yourself.  My kid looks the same as last year but...he's not.  All apologies to people who think my kid is taking skinny sizing to a whole new level.  Pickings were slim at the consignment store this weekend.  PUN INTENDED!

And here we are at nearly five o'clock - that gnocchi dish?  Yeah it is being saved for later in the week.  Stouffer's is supporting my lazy ass in the kitchen by way of lasagna. A Million Little Things is on my television, God bless Hulu.  I have blankets and Bud Light and I'm just fine enjoying this fine, grey, cool autumn day in the comfort of my little home where the heat is on. (And all the Northerners laugh hysterically.)

October is a wonderful month.  A favorite.  And today I feel like I can enjoy it to the fullest.

Too bad its past the mid month mark.

Slow down.

Just slow down.

  1. I vowed to not turn my heat on until November 1st. I made it to October 18. You would be freezing in my house!
